Margaret McAteer and Sarah Chaplin were mother and daughter. Margaret died of breast cancer in 2009, aged 64. Sarah died of lung cancer in 2014, aged 42. In both cases, it felt like they we lost them long before their time – especially Sarah, who was married and also a mother of two young children, 6 and 3 at the time of her death.

Sadness beyond words remains. Perhaps it always will. But Margaret and Sarah live on in and through us, and even though grief lingers, we can acknowledge, remember and be deeply grateful for the love and beauty they have brought to our lives.
